MANDALA IN INDIA

  • Sanskrit for circle, polygon, community, connection
  • is a square with four gates containing a circle with a center point. Each gate is in the shape of T
  • the four gates of Mandala are loving, kindness, compassion, sympathy, aquanimity
  • the term is Hindu origin and appears in the Rig Veda as the name of the sections of the work
  • Vograyana Buddhism, Mandalas have been developed into sandpainting
  • pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysical or symbolically




Here are the four circles, symbolising the enlightenment, which the meditating person must gain, before she can enter the illuminated palace




 Fire of wisdom: the outermost circle consists of the purifying fire
Vajra circle :  the diamond circle expresses strength and fearless
Tombs : there are eight tombs , which symbolises the eight states of consciousness, which the person must go beyond.
Lotus circle :  expresses the open state of devotion, that is necessary to enter the palace

    COLOUR AS THE SYMBOLISM OF MANDALA

    ÒWhite - Vairocana: The delusion of ignorance becomes the wisdom of reality.
    ÒYellow - Ratnasambhava: The delusion of pride becomes the wisdom of sameness.
    ÒRed - Amitabha: The delusion of attachment becomes the wisdom of discernment.
    ÒGreen - Amoghasiddhi: The delusion of jealousy becomes the wisdom of accomplishment.
    ÒBlue - Akshobhya: The delusion of anger becomes the mirror like wisdom.




    SAND MANDALA- only the skilled person can make the mandala properly as the mandala need to be very neat and detail.
